Music
Music is an integral part of worship at the Church of Peace. Each
Sunday the Praise Band opens the service leading the congregation in
song. Throughout the year different ensembles and instrumentalists
perform at special events at the church and in the community. There are
also several musical groups in which to participate.
Chancel Choir
The Chancel Choir is the Church of Peace’s adult choir. The choir
rehearses weekly on Wednesday evenings from 7-8 p.m. and sings during
the Sunday service twice a month from September-May. During the summer
months, soloists provide special music for the service. Music sung in
worship includes all styles of classical music, spirituals and gospels,
contemporary, and standard church music. The Chancel Choir is open to
anyone 7th grade through adult. Jessica Waytenick directs
the chancel choir.
Bell Choir
The Bell Choir at the Church of Peace meets weekly after the Sunday
service and performs in worship monthly from September through May. The
bell choir plays traditional handbells and choir chimes in a wide
variety of music. All ages are welcome to participate. Curtis Oelschlaeger directs the bell choir.
Children’s Choir
The Children’s Choir at the Church of Peace is available for
Kindergarten through 6th grade children. They practice at 9
a.m. weekly on Sundays during Sunday School and perform monthly in
worship from September through May. The Sunday School and Children’s
Choir put on a Christmas play and musical in the spring. The director
is Mary Kae Waytenick, Director of Music.
